Sometimes, the universe really does know what it’s doing. Ross came to Canada in 2023 from Ireland looking for a change and first landed in Thunder Bay. When an unexpected twist at work forced him to relocate, the choice was between British Columbia or Alberta. Alberta responded first—so off to Calgary he went. Somewhere between packing up his life and making that long drive west, we matched on Tinder. Neither of us could’ve known how perfectly the timing would align. We met on March 4th, 2024, and took a long drive together that evening. Within the first 15 minutes, Marissa was certain there wouldn’t be a second date (Irish humor isn’t for the faint of heart), but by the end of that same night, we were dreaming out loud about a future we hadn’t even dared imagine before.
From that moment on, everything just... fit. We became inseparable almost instantly. Even Marissa’s grandma asked, “So when’s the wedding?” the second time she met Ross—which, in hindsight, was very on-brand. But as much as it felt like a whirlwind, we never felt rushed. Marissa took some time to reflect and grow before stepping into something new, and Ross—ever patient and steady—waited by her side for five months. On July 28th, 2024, we officially became a couple, and it wasn’t long before a “one-night sleepover” turned into moving in together.
By January 2025, we were sharing a home, a rhythm, a quiet kind of joy we hadn’t known before. Our love has always felt natural—like finding something we didn’t even realize we were missing. We healed in each other what we didn’t know needed healing. People say, “when you know, you know,” and for us, that moment was March 4th.
We’re so excited to share this next chapter with the people who’ve supported us, cheered us on, and maybe even asked about the wedding before we did. Thank you for being part of our story.

This was the day it all changed; Ross had planned a walk that evening for him and Marissa, though she was unaware Ross was carrying the thing that would seal them together for the rest of their lives.

This is our trip with Marissa's brother and sister-in-law to try the best Hot Chocolate in Banff!

This was a special day for Marissa and Ross. The day their families met was a day that the couple will not forget. Having an intercultural relationship has its difficulties; however, seeing our parents unwavering support for us was so special.
